Frequently asked questions
About the app
Is TimeNinja a medical treatment for ADHD?
No. TimeNinja is a productivity tool — a "Visible Time Coach" — that helps with time blindness and executive function. It is not therapy, not medication, and not a diagnostic device. If you need clinical support, please consult a qualified professional.
Who is the app for?
ADHD adults, teens, and parents setting up routines for kids. Self Mode is for individual use. Family Mode lets a parent build photo-based routines a child can run.
What makes TimeNinja different from Tiimo, Structured, or Routinery?
Most ADHD apps stop at "build a routine" or "set a timer." TimeNinja closes the loop: every session feeds your personal Real Time Library, so future plans get more realistic over time. It's also the only app that plans backwards from a deadline, not forward from "now".
Is it really not a todo list?
Correct. Todo lists assume you can estimate time and execute on your own. TimeNinja externalizes both. Read about the Capture → Plan → Execute → Learn loop.
Pricing & subscription
How does the 7-day free trial work?
Start a Monthly or Yearly trial with your Apple ID. You're not charged during the 7 days. Cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → TimeNinja → Cancel before day 7 to avoid being charged.
What plans are available?
- Monthly — 7-day trial, then auto-renewing monthly
- Yearly — 7-day trial, then auto-renewing yearly (best value)
- Lifetime — one-time purchase, no subscription
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Cancel anytime in iOS Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, find your TimeNinja purchase, and request a refund.
Does Lifetime cover all future features?
Yes. Lifetime is a one-time purchase that unlocks every Pro feature plus all future Pro features.
Privacy & data
What data do you collect?
None. Routines, tasks, and timing history stay on your device. No analytics, no advertising SDKs, no third-party tracking. The App Store privacy nutrition label says "Data Not Collected" because that's the truth.
Does the AI feature send my data anywhere?
No. The Break It Down feature uses Apple's Foundation Models on iOS 26+ devices — fully on-device. On older devices, a rule-based fallback runs locally. Full privacy policy.
What about iCloud sync?
Not currently. We don't sync your data to iCloud or any server. Each device is independent.
How do I delete all my data?
Me tab → Account → Delete All Data. Wipes routines, plans, timing history, profile. Cannot be undone.
Features
Will a Quick Task I add today show up tomorrow?
Quick Tasks are scoped to today only. If you don't complete one, it won't carry over to tomorrow's Today view automatically — your timing data is still saved in the Library, but the task itself stays in today's date. For anything you want to do on a specific future day, use the Plan Backwards flow and pick the day you need.
(Auto-roll-over of undone tasks is a planned v1.1 feature.)
I added a Quick Task at 9pm but chose Morning block — what happens?
The block is a label for where the task sits on the Today screen, not a real-time scheduler. Choosing Morning at 9pm means "show this in the Morning section of today's view." It doesn't push the task to tomorrow morning. If you want to plan for tomorrow morning specifically, use Plan Backwards.
Why does the timer show a shrinking ring instead of just numbers?
Because time blindness means digital readouts are abstract for many ADHD brains. A visibly draining ring makes time felt, not just read. This is the single most important design choice in the app.
What's backward planning?
Instead of asking "what should I start now?", you tell the app "this must be done by X". The app schedules each step backwards from the deadline and tells you when to begin. Converts an abstract future into a concrete start time. Full guide.
What's the Real Time Library?
Your personal dataset of how long tasks actually take you. After a few sessions, you'll see a 25–75% variability band — your true performance range — instead of an unreliable gut estimate. Why this matters.
Does the app work without internet?
Yes — fully. Timers, routines, planning, and even the Break It Down AI all run on-device.
Does it support Apple Watch?
Yes. The companion app mirrors the active timer with haptic notifications.
Does it support Live Activities?
Yes. When a timer runs, you can see it on your Lock Screen and (on supported iPhones) in the Dynamic Island.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Me tab → Settings → Export Data. Generates a JSON file of everything.
Troubleshooting
The timer froze at 0:00 with a loading spinner
This was a bug in early versions. Fixed in the latest update. The app now sweeps stale Live Activities on launch.
"Plans Unavailable" on the paywall
Check your internet connection and tap Retry. If it persists, restart the app or sign out and back in to your Apple ID in iOS Settings.
Live Activity not showing on Lock Screen
Enable Live Activities in iOS Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Live Activities, and inside the app's notification settings.
My routine isn't appearing on Today
Routines only show in their assigned block (Morning / Afternoon / Evening). Check the block matches your current time of day.
